For a newly built tank farm, it is necessary to monitor the liquid level and temperature of each tank in the control room; there are 8 tanks and two flow meters (for tar). We also need to consider adding features. It has remote communication capabilities. Is it appropriate to use an RTU for monitoring? Is there a better way to achieve the above functionality?
It’s completely possible to use an RTU; there will be no sudden changes in temperature or liquid level, and it won’t affect the signal transmission speed. It’s best for the flow meter to have an integrated accumulation function, allowing the accumulated values to be uploaded directly via the RTU

On-site, level transmitters and thermal resistors are used, and the signals can be monitored via an RTU. The RTU can be placed on-site or in the control room; if it is placed in the control room, it functions similarly to a PLC. For the upper-level monitoring, an on-site touch screen can be used, or an HMI PC can be installed in the control room.
Consider choosing an RTU or PLC based on future expansion needs! If there is a dedicated control room, specialized warehouse management software can be considered; if a control system already exists, it can be expanded upon.
