There is a layer of debris floating on the surface of the refined sulfur tank liquid. Could you help analyze what might be causing this? The ash content in the filtered sulfur liquid should be ≤30 ppm!
We also often encounter this when melting sulfur – it’s black and sticky; could it be organic substances from the sulfur refining process?
It should be asphalt; if you’re using bagged sulfur, it may contain some woven bags as well
I don’t think it’s possible to use woven bags; nowadays, sulfur melting units are equipped with liquid sulfur filters, and some of these units also have a pipeline filter between the liquid sulfur storage tank and the refined sulfur tank. Therefore, large mechanical impurities in the form of woven bags should not be present. However, we have often encountered woven wire plugs clogging the pump impellers.
A sample was taken for analysis, and it contained soluble inorganic salts.
