Does anyone know what the former Ninth Chemical Engineering Institute is called now, and where it is located? I only know that there is a Sixth Chemical Engineering Institute in Shanxi, some kind of engineering company – does anyone know anything else?
Huajiu Institute is located in Jilin City, Jilin Province; it is now known as the CPE Northeast Branch. Hualiu Institute is called Hualu Engineering Company and is based in Xi’an

The former Ministry of Chemical Industry had eight design institutes; I’ve never heard of the Ninth Chemical Design Institute
The Ninth Chemical Engineering Institute was originally the Ninth Design Institute of the Ministry of Chemical Industry, located in Jilin City, Jilin Province. It later became part of Jilin Petrochemical and was named the Jilin Petrochemical Design Institute; when CNPC and Sinopec were separated into two separate companies, Jilin Petrochemical came under CNPC’s control. When CNPC established CPE, it was assigned to CPE, and its name was changed to CPE Northeast Branch ； Now, China National Petroleum has established the Northeast Refining and Chemical Engineering Co., Ltd., which has been incorporated into this entity and renamed the \"China National Petroleum Northeast Refining and Chemical Engineering Co., Ltd. Jilin Design Institute\"; resistance still exists in Jilin. The Sixth Chemical Engineering Institute was originally the Sixth Design Institute of the Ministry of Chemical Industry, located in Xi’an. It is now called “Hualu Engineering Company”.

The former Ministry of Chemical Industry had nine design institutes, from the First Design Institute to the Ninth Design Institute – each of them having its own specialties and strengths. These design institutes have now been reorganized into engineering companies. Tianchen Engineering Company (formerly the First Design Institute of the Ministry of Chemical Industry) is based in Tianjin; it is a well-established and strong institution that currently has around 13 EPC projects under its management. It boasts considerable strength and high revenues. Huatai Engineering Company (Second Design Institute of the Ministry of Chemical Industry), Taiyuan; Donghua Engineering Company (Third Design Institute of the Ministry of Chemical Industry), Hefei. These are established design institutes with decent capabilities, but they are not as good as the Eighth, First, and Fourth Institutes; however, their standards are more or less similar. The process pipelines are designed together without clear separation. The employees of Zhongcheng Engineering earn high salaries, as it is the only engineering company listed in China. Wuhu Fifth Ring Engineering Company (the Fourth Design Institute of the Ministry of Chemical Industry) is a well-established and highly skilled company based in Wuhan; its employees earn good salaries. It has been quite successful due to projects related to SHELL’s gasification activities. Sinopec Ningbo Engineering Company (formerly Sinopec Lanzhou Design Institute, the Fifth Design Institute of the Ministry of Chemical Industry) is located in Ningbo. Hualu Engineering Company (the Sixth Design Institute of the Ministry of Chemical Industry) is based in Xi’an; it is also a well-established company with high skills, but its employees’ salaries are average. Sinopec Nanhua Design Institute (the Seventh Design Institute of the Ministry of Chemical Industry) is located in Nanjing. Chengda Engineering Company (the Eighth Design Institute of the Ministry of Chemical Industry) is based in Chengdu. It is the only engineering company in China to rank among the top 50 in the world’s engineering rankings. This company has successfully expanded its operations overseas, having taken on the general contracting role for a power plant project worth 4 billion yuan in Indonesia. High income. At the end of last year, Huajiu Hospital took on five units from Sichuan’s large oil refining plant, as well as the polypropylene production facilities belonging to CNOOC; now it’s likely they are already swamped with work! Now many large complexes don’t have many projects, yet they’ve taken on so many at once! The young are truly formidable!
I’ve never heard that Huajiu Hospital can produce polypropylene!

The Sixth Chemical Engineering Institute is not located in Shanxi; it is in Xi’an, Shaanxi. It is now known as Hualu Engineering Company, and its main business focuses on fine chemicals.
