The operation cycle of the desulfurization tank in our facility has recently become shorter; approximately 7–8 days pass after regeneration with steam before the pressure difference reaches 0.4 MPa. It used to take longer to reach this point. Apart from the use of activated carbon powder and the poor quality of the gas, could there be other reasons for this? (The type of activated carbon is HT-202)
The effect of steam regeneration is not very good; it’s mainly due to the quality and characteristics of the activated carbon, in my opinion!

There is also an oil-absorbing agent filter before the pre-desulfurization tank; regenerating the oil-absorbing agent with steam yields better results. We do it this way in our production, and it works fine – worth giving it a try.
It repollutes the environment and is also labor-intensive; moreover, the activated carbon used in the pre-desulfurization tank isn’t expensive, so there’s no need to go through such trouble. It’s not easy to use either. I suggest you just replace it with a new one
1. Under normal circumstances, the usage period of activated carbon is about 3 months. 2. The regenerated activated carbon has poor activity and a weak absorption capacity; therefore, steam regeneration is generally not used. 3. Whether the standards for acceptable quality after regeneration are similar to those for new activated carbon, and especially whether the standards remain the same after several cycles of regeneration, all have an impact on the use of the material after regeneration. 4. It is normal that the more times regeneration occurs, the lower the strength of the catalyst becomes and the shorter its service life. These are just my humble thoughts; please forgive any mistakes.
