The factory currently has 2 2-ton steam boilers. The normal steam consumption is 3 tons per hour, but it rises to 4.5 tons per hour during peak times, and this high level lasts for only half an hour. Under these circumstances, we do not plan to add another boiler; therefore, we are considering installing a steam storage tank. What size would be appropriate? My calculation: (4.5-4) * 0.5 = 250 kilograms. The steam pressure is 8 kilograms, and the density of steam is 4.6 kg/m3. Therefore, the required volume is 250 / 4.6 = 55 m3. Does that seem like a very large amount?
The poster needs to provide more detailed information. What is the stable treatment capacity of two 2T boilers? What are the pressure and temperature at which the boiler produces steam? The normal gas consumption is 3 T/H, while the peak load is 4.5 T/H for a duration of half an hour. Does the boiler run 24 hours a day? How often do peak loads occur? How long is the interval? Demand for steam, temperature and pressure requirements? If you provide these details, the original poster can give you more specific advice. Steam is generally stored as saturated water; storing it in gaseous form would require an excessively large volume. However, this solution is definitely much cheaper than installing another boiler.

My single steam generator normally has a gas flow rate of around 8-15 kg/h, with a pressure of approximately 4 kilograms. If the pressure difference in the steam generator reaches 0.05 MPA, the heating rod will trip. Since we need steam to be generated continuously, we would like to add a steam storage tank, which will primarily serve as a buffer. I would like to ask how to determine the size of a gas storage tank? What specific references are available? Thank you very much.
