When I was working as an instrument engineer, I needed to make some PCBs myself to measure some signals, which was relatively easy to use. But they are just simple signal generators. These things can now be purchased, such as high-frequency signal generators, etc. A multimeter is definitely needed. It is best to have a digital meter and an analog meter. The two uses are different. Generally, I bring a digital meter to the site. When encountering special instruments, I need to dismantle them and bring them back for debugging with an analog meter.
