At present, the processing of coal tar in our country is developing rapidly; the scale of such processing facilities is continuously increasing, with the total processing capacity of facilities having an annual capacity of over 150,000 tons reaching 5.15 million tons. These enterprises purchase large quantities of coal tar every year, and the quality of coal tar in China varies greatly. Especially under market economy conditions, some people resort to extreme measures (such as adulteration) regarding the quality of coal tar ； Thus, the quality inspection of coal tar upon arrival at the plant has become a significant problem for companies that process coal tar. What methods do these companies use to carry out control (such as measuring parameters like moisture, ash content, and naphthalene content)? We are a producer of carbon black, and coal tar is one of the main raw materials; therefore, its quality is of great importance to us. To ensure quality control, we have taken the following measures: 1. We deal directly with coal tar manufacturers (coking plants) to minimize intermediate steps. Moreover, our clients are all long-term partners, and for the sake of mutual long-term interests, fraud is virtually non-existent. 2. While taking into account the need for simple and practical work procedures, it is also essential to ensure proper quality control. We adopt a combination of routine tests and special tests. As is well known, parameters such as moisture content, specific gravity, viscosity, and ash content are generally tested; these tests take relatively little time and are therefore mandatory. On the other hand, tests such as boiling range, toluene-insoluble matter, asphaltenes, and the levels of potassium and sodium ions require more time and involve more complicated procedures. Hence, we combine routine tests with these additional tests: qualified suppliers carry out all tests regularly, and when oil is delivered, if there are no significant changes in the routine test results, the oil can be unloaded; if there are significant changes, then further tests are necessary. For new suppliers, a full range of inspections are required; upon passing these, they become qualified subcontractors. This ensures quality while saving time. Black Cat Carbon Black Co., Ltd., with a production capacity of around 300,000 tons; 2. Longxing Carbon Black, with a production capacity of around 180,000 tons; 3. Shandong Huadong Rubber Materials, with a production capacity of around 180,000 tons; 4. Suzhou Baohua, with a production capacity of around 160,000 tons.
