After being produced from sulfuric acid and sent to the distillation tank by the dry absorption unit, fuming sulfuric acid is indirectly heated using saturated steam. The sulfur trioxide gas generated is introduced into a condenser through the vent pipe of the distillation tank, where it is indirectly cooled to 30°C–40°C using circulating water; once it turns into a liquid, it enters the receiving tank (i.e., the finished product tank). The distilled fuming sulfuric acid is cooled through the jacket of the reflux port of the distillation vessel and then returned to the fuming sulfuric acid circulation tank for sulfuric acid production in order to be concentrated. After being concentrated, it is sent to the distillation vessel for distillation, and this cycle repeats continuously.

It seems that this method is now outdated; we used it in the past as well, but the quality of the acid obtained through evaporation was very poor, and the distillation equipment often broke down. Now I am aware of several systems for producing 65% acid, in which sulfur trioxide is used to heat fumaric acid for evaporation. Once the fumaric acid becomes less concentrated, it is converted into commercial acid, or it is re-concentrated within a fumaric acid absorption system before being evaporated again.
