When I was doing pneumatic conveying, I encountered a problem, that is, which valve should I choose for the valves on the conveying pipe and air duct? I originally planned to use a butterfly valve, but the owner said that the sealing of the butterfly valve was not good, so I used a plug-in valve.
These two valves are similar, and the plug-in valve has better sealing than the butterfly valve.
Ball valves have better sealing. If leakage requirements are high, pinch valves can also be used.
Can a metal hard-sealed butterfly valve achieve Class V sealing and not meet your requirements? If the sealing medium is not a special medium and the pressure difference is not very large, a soft-sealed butterfly valve can also achieve Class VI sealing.
Pneumatic conveying is mainly for solids or powders, so it is better to use a gate valve. Generally, butterfly valves are better used in fluid (gas or liquid) conditions.

Two-eccentric butterfly valves can be used for general working conditions. Three-eccentric metal-sealed butterfly valves can be used for special working conditions such as high temperature, high pressure, low temperature, and cryogenic temperatures. If it is required to be both a cut-off valve and a valve regulator, a three-eccentric butterfly valve is a better choice.
There are also butterfly valves used in air ducts. This kind of butterfly valve is relatively simple and different from the ones used in chemical pipelines. There are specialized manufacturers that make this kind of ventilation butterfly valve. Of course, the sealing performance of butterfly valves is not very good. If the requirements are high, eccentric butterfly valves can be used.
