Type B flat welding flanges and long-neck flanges have a short neck in addition to the flange itself; the corrosion allowance specified in the standards refers to that of this short neck, which is intended to ensure the strength requirements of this section. Type A flanges do not have a short neck, so there is no need to specify a corrosion allowance for them.
