When I first started working here, my main task was related to process engineering; before that, I had done some minor piping work as well. Now I mainly deal with software learning – our company requires knowledge of PROII and ASPEN, as that’s what the experienced workers use. My college classmates went to another design firm, where they mainly use PROII and HYSYS. A few days ago, while calculating issues related to the pressure drop in a heat exchanger, my supervisor asked me to use ASPEN for the calculations, saying that PROII isn’t capable of performing such detailed calculations. Could you help me summarize the advantages, disadvantages, and application areas of various calculation software? Thank you. Of course, there are other software programs as well; it’s always beneficial to learn more software in addition to what one is studying. So find a guiding light here.
