PRO2’s file converter

I’ve just started using PRO2 and am learning from the *user guide; I encountered a problem related to the file converter. I read in the user guide that there’s a file converter that can convert files from different versions to make them compatible – is that what it means? So, who has used this software? Is it useful?
Versions 6.0 and above will be automatically converted, a new file will be generated, and the original file will be retained!
