For the length a of the tube box: Minimum inner depth – ① For single-pass tube boxes with openings, the minimum depth at the center of the opening should be no less than 1/3 of the inner diameter of the pipe connection. ② The inner and outer depths of the pass should ensure that the minimum flow area between the two passes is at least 1.3 times the flow area of the heat exchange tubes in each pass. Maximum inner depth – This value takes into account the convenience of welding and cleaning the internal components, especially in multi-pass heat exchangers with smaller nominal diameters. The length of the tube box should be designed based on the size of the connections, and it is generally not less than 1/3 of the inner diameter of those connections
