What is the difference between liquefied hydrocarbons as specified in the \"Stone Code\" and liquefied petroleum gas as specified in the \"Building Code\"?
The range of liquefied hydrocarbons is broader than that of liquefied petroleum gas; generally, liquefied petroleum gas is a mixture of C3 and C4 compounds； Liquefied hydrocarbons include not only liquefied petroleum gas but also mixtures of one or two or several components from C3 and C4 (i.e., propane, propylene, n-butane, isobutane, n-butene, isobutene, etc.).
The composition of LPG is subject to certain standards; otherwise, difficulties in vaporization may arise. Generally, it is specified that C3 makes up 70%, while the remaining portion (mainly C4) accounts for 30%. Of course, when the weather is hot, it’s fine if the proportion of C4 is slightly higher. However, stricter standards apply to LPG used in industrial applications, with C3 needing to constitute more than 70%.
Hydrocarbons that are gaseous at room temperature become liquefied when subjected to pressure, and such substances are referred to as liquefied hydrocarbons. It can be a single substance or a mixture. Liquefied petroleum gas mainly consists of C3 and C4 hydrocarbons, with a small amount of C5 hydrocarbons as well.
