Wave-patterned gaskets are suitable for sealing medium and low-pressure equipment. They are more expensive than graphite wound gaskets and inner/outer ring gaskets, but the material can be selected based on the temperature and corrosivity of the medium, resulting in good performance.
It’s better than wound gaskets, and can be reused by replacing the graphite on its surface
It works pretty well; it seems to be a patented product of a sealing components factory in Guangzhou.
The factory requires that it not be used in areas with low pressure and low temperature, which is somewhat wasteful! We ourselves also prefer to use it less!
This can be reused actually; we used to throw away those we replaced. I think its performance is acceptable. However, if there is a slight leak while in use, or if the surface of the wave-shaped gasket gets damaged in any way, it becomes difficult to hold everything tightly together, and the only solution then is to replace it
The wavy tooth gasket, also known as the wavy tooth composite gasket, is a gasket consisting of a metal frame processed using a special technique – its upper and lower surfaces feature concentric grooves in the form of wavy teeth that are offset from each other – along with expansion graphite material of appropriate thickness applied on both sides. It boasts excellent heat conductivity, making it suitable for high-temperature, high-pressure, and highly corrosive environments. Its dimensions can be customized, and various metal materials can be used. The largest-sized gaskets, namely corrugated composite gaskets, belong to the category of gaskets that provide linear contact sealing; they are mechanically supported by the corrugations, and their resilience is determined by the design features used, the thickness of the metal, the spacing between the corrugations, and their height. Graphite layers are usually applied to both sides of these gaskets, which enables them to be used on sealing surfaces that are not perfectly flat. Wavy tooth gaskets are more expensive than metal wound gaskets but can be reused. They are advantageous for large manholes, as they are less likely to get damaged; metal gaskets tend to disintegrate, and sometimes, when the graphite loses its oiliness, the steel strips can easily break under heat and pressure.
We use wave-patterned gaskets for our heat exchanger gaskets; we’ve been using them for almost 10 years now – they’re from Guangzhou Jiji, and they perform well. However, we still use spiral wound gaskets for pipe flanges.

Features of toothed composite gaskets: Toothed composite gaskets are a type of metal soft gasket that provides better sealing performance than plain metal gaskets. They are made by using precision lathes to create concentric, 90-degree angled serrated grooves on both sides of the stainless steel metal gasket. Depending on the medium involved, materials such as flexible graphite, PTFE, asbestos-free sheets, or other soft metals can be used and applied to these grooves. By leveraging the sealing properties of the soft covering layers along with the strength and elasticity of the metal, these gaskets also provide a labyrinth seal effect. As a result, the same level of sealing can be achieved with less compression force required. Toothed composite gaskets can also be used directly without a covering seal layer, achieving a good sealing effect; however, in high-pressure applications, they may cause damage to the surface of the flange. Toothed composite gaskets are primarily used for sealing pressure vessels and pipeline flanges under medium to high pressures and high temperatures.
