Recently, the water treatment output in the plant has not met the required standards. The hardness of the water entering the treatment system was 0.27, while the hardness of the water coming out of the treatment system was 0.17, or even higher. The alkalinity of the boiler water was 0.62. The boiler has a capacity of 2 tons. Initially, it was thought that there wasn’t enough resin; therefore, the resin was cleaned and some additional resin was added. After the water treatment process, the hardness of the water was measured to be 0.07. However, when measured again the next day, 16 hours after the treatment, the hardness was 0.18. The regeneration was poor or the resin has become inactive.

If regeneration is inadequate, the resin becomes inactive, or the water output is too high, it is recommended to enhance regeneration, reduce the water output per cycle, or replace the resin.
It’s a multi-way valve system, right? It’s likely due to poor regeneration; check whether there is enough salt in the salt tank, or whether salt absorption occurs properly during the regeneration process.
Regeneration is not working well; check the salt brine concentration and also examine the activity of the resin.
So how can inactivated resin be reused?
What type of water softener is being used? If it is a multi-way valve, take a water sample from the water outlet end of the exchange column for testing; if the test results are satisfactory, it means that hard water and soft water have mixed within the multi-way valve, and it needs to be repaired or replaced ; Otherwise, it’s either resin regeneration or a resin issue.
Is it caused by the poor quality of the water entering the system and an excessive flow rate?
The alkalinity is too low; it’s completely abnormal. Is it caused by excessive water loss? **The standard is generally best kept between 18 and 26. Check whether the water usage is normal.
