In the vapor phase of a polyethylene polymerization reactor, an excessive amount of non-condensable inert gases is one of the reasons for high pressure in the reactor; in such cases, it is necessary to use a flare system. Those who are not familiar with how to operate a flare system might think that it simply involves releasing some gas and burning that gas – is that what is meant by using a flare system?

There are many situations in which a flare is used: when the equipment experiences excessive temperature, pressure, or liquid level levels that require urgent handling; therefore, the gas is discharged through a flare, and combustible gases in the system are also vented to the flare
