In the pump calculation results table, there is an item called “head developed”. What does it mean? Please ask the forum members to clarify this
Regarding this question, let me share my opinion. Literally speaking, it refers to the development head; in other words, it is the pressure difference between the pump’s outlet and inlet, that is, the change in fluid pressure. This pressure difference determines how high the feed fluid can be lifted, or rather, the height of the feed fluid column whose pressure is equal to this pressure difference. I conducted experiments using water as the feed material; the inlet pressure was 1 bar and the outlet pressure was 2 bar, meaning the pressure change was 1 bar (about 1 atmosphere). The resulting value was around 10 meters. I’m not sure if my understanding is correct.
That makes sense. Could it be understood as the head that the pump can achieve for that material?
I’m not very sure about this. I flipped through the textbook on principles of chemical engineering and came to the conclusion that, if all frictional losses are ignored, then this value represents the head pressure for that material. However, since there are definitely losses due to friction in the actual process, the actual head pressure is also related to the magnitude of the friction and the flow rate of the fluid. The actual head pressure must be lower than this value; moreover, the greater the friction, the higher the required flow rate, and the lower the head pressure.
