Dear seniors! I have just started working in the refining industry, and I would like to learn about the precautions that need to be taken during the construction of delayed coking units! I found a lot of information online, but it’s not very comprehensive. I hope someone with more knowledge can give me some advice! Thank you
For pipelines, fittings, and valves in high-temperature areas, it is essential to ensure that the correct material is used; there have been too many accidents caused by the use of the wrong material: L
The pipelines connecting the four-way valve should be supported as much as possible to prevent stress on the valve! Our company’s startup was delayed by one month due to the four-way valve being unable to switch under stress. Careful work is required inside the furnace, as well as thorough inspections.
Attention must be paid to thermal stress issues; where supports are required, they should be installed, as well as pipe racks, especially for high-temperature pipelines. There is also the material of high-temperature pipelines and fittings; choosing the wrong materials can easily lead to fire accidents. Bolts and screws in high-temperature areas also require careful attention; otherwise, it is difficult to tighten them due to the effects of high temperatures, as well as differences in thermal stress-induced deformation. Attention also needs to be paid to the selection of orifice plates for those high-temperature special valves. It is advisable for all equipment to have a sealed emission system; especially for high-temperature equipment, it is best to connect the emissions to a vent tower. It is better to reduce the number of bands in the heavy oil pipeline, as it will be difficult to purge it in the future. Pay attention to the matching between the pump outlet pressure and the design pressure of the heat exchange equipment. Preheating lines should ideally be designed with two valves. There are many more things I can’t think of right now; I’ll write them for you later
The material is quite crucial, and then there’s the welding quality
