I am aware of the required values for feed, product, side draw, and intermediate reboiler for the actual tray column, and I have also simulated them in Unisim; however, I would like to use theoretical tray modeling instead. When converting to theoretical plates, it’s easy to determine the locations for feed, product withdrawal, and side stream extraction. But how are the reboiler heat load as well as the amounts of feed, product, and side stream extraction determined? Is it the same as the actual board, or are there guidelines to refer to?
Whether it’s theoretical plates or actual plates, that tower or another tower, those materials or other materials, there is only one possible outcome in reality; therefore, your known values should not change. What differs between the theoretical plate and the actual plate is likely the plate efficiency.
