It is a requirement stipulated uniformly by the General Institute’s engineering standards. Instead of negotiating, it demanded an explanation for why not to do it. HG20652 6.3 specifies that MT or PT testing shall be performed on the weld joints between the skirt cylinder and the tower bottom, and UT testing is also required for the longitudinal and circumferential welds of the skirt, as these are welds subjected to pressure (load-bearing pressure). Hehe, I think you’ve misunderstood. Clause 6.3.4 of standard HG20652 states that if the tower meets any one of the conditions specified in 123, then a surface inspection should be carried out on the weld joint between the skirt and the tower bottom; in other words, if it does not meet any of those conditions, there is even no need to perform a surface inspection on that weld. Of course, if someone suggests using an ultra-detector, one can only say that they are raising the detection requirements for the equipment.
