What is the difference between a pump seal and a shaft seal?
What is commonly referred to as a seal is actually an shaft seal, which can be categorized into mechanical seals, packing seals, labyrinth seals, etc.
The pump seal is used to seal the shaft. For shaft seals, water is sometimes used as the medium ； Some use steam as the medium ； Some also use oil as a medium.
The shaft sealing for pumps is of the same type, but it can be chosen selectively; depending on the medium being transported, different seals are used. Factors such as temperature and corrosiveness play a role in determining which seal to use.
