From 2002 to 2007, the average annual growth rate of my country's epoxy resin (EPR) production was 29.2%, and the average annual growth rate of consumption was 21.2%. my country has become the world's major EPR producer and consumer (see Table 1). In 2007, EPR production reached 600,000 tons, accounting for 40% of the global total production. At present, there are more than 200 domestic EPR companies. Nanya Kunshan, Dalian Qihua and Guangzhou Hongchang rank among the top three in terms of production capacity in the country, and their combined output only accounts for 21% of the country's total. Leading foreign EPR production companies such as Dow and Vantico also entered the domestic market a few years ago. More than 85% of my country's EPR consumption is general-purpose epoxy resin. The proportion of special and functional epoxy resin consumption is relatively low. High-end products such as fan blades, semiconductor packaging (including LED), and high-performance copper-clad laminate EPR cannot be produced domestically. In the future, my country's epoxy resin application and development direction will closely follow the pace of Europe and the United States. Since 2006, the price of bisphenol A, the main raw material of epoxy resin, has increased significantly. The price difference between EPR and bisphenol A has begun to decrease, and profits have fallen slightly.
