Dear colleagues, our unit has recently had a large number of new equipment that require pressure testing, mainly heat exchangers. The supervision unit only gave an overall pressure testing plan for all equipment. Unless there are problems, a supplementary plan will be issued for individual equipment. Is this reasonable? Does every piece of equipment need to submit a pressure test plan?
It’s not necessary. Every piece of equipment has been pressure tested when it leaves the factory.
This falls within the scope of the system pressure test. This is of course reasonable. The on-site pressure test is not for the strength, stability and sealing of a single device, but for the entire system. The focus is on stability (pipe force appears after interconnection) and sealing.
On-site pressure testing should be for the entire system, not individual equipment.
The main consideration for factory pressure testing of equipment is the strength issue. On-site pressure testing after equipment transportation and installation is mainly to prevent hidden dangers to the safe operation of the equipment due to looseness, collision and other abnormal conditions, so pressure testing must be performed. The function and medium of each piece of equipment are different. I think it is necessary to prepare a pressure test plan for each piece of equipment. It is not difficult to prepare a pressure test plan and it will not increase much workload.
The level of pressure vessels should be related to the welding method. If they are all heat exchangers with the same pressure level, just use one standard.
