I would like to ask experts in space furnaces: what is the current status of the industrial operation of such furnaces? Can space furnaces achieve the best results when used with bituminous coal sources that have high ash melting points, high ash content, and low activity?
It’s performing well; it seems to burn efficiently, but the oxygen consumption and the amount of black water that needs to be treated are likely to be quite high
Industrial operation status of the space furnace: 1. The longest continuous operation time is 15 days, Linquan; 2. There are still many issues at present; Puyang is still in the process of debugging, and Linquan has not yet started operating ; Bituminous coal with high ash fusion point, high ash content, and low activity has not been used yet; the current coal in use is Shenmu coal.
Due to its cold wall + top injection downward + quenching mechanism, it faces greater operational challenges when used with coal types with high ash content; it is not sensitive to coal with high ash melting point and low volatility/low activity
How is it running now? Does anyone know?
The Puyang Longyu space furnaces have been used with Shenmu coal and Yongcheng coal; Shenmu coal has a high volatility, good reactivity, and a low ash melting point; Yongcheng coal has a low ash content, and its ash fusion point is also not high. Coal with a high ash content should theoretically face difficulties in slag discharge, have a narrow operating range, and exhibit a low carbon conversion rate due to poor activity
It is estimated that space furnaces will encounter resistance during operation; it’s possible that what is designed differs from reality. However, through practical use, improvements can be made step by step, and the development of the four-nozzle vaporization technology is the best example of this
