Author/Source: Yili Daily Date: 2009-4-2 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On April 1, reporters learned from a meeting on the development of the coal industry and the current situation regarding specialized talent in the region that, as of now, the proven coal reserves in the Ili Valley amount to 29.2 billion tons, accounting for 9.7% of Ili’s projected total reserves and 29% of the proven reserves across Xinjiang. It is understood that the coal resources in the Ili River Valley are mainly distributed in the Yinan Coal Field, Yibei Coal Field, Nilke Coal Field, and Zhaosu Coal Field. The total surface area of these four coal fields is approximately 5,810 square kilometers, with prospective reserves of 300.9 billion tons. To date, 29.2 billion tons of reserves have been identified. The main characteristics of these coal resources are deep burial depths, thick coal seams, high quality of the coal, and a relatively complete range of coal types. There are 45 coal mines directly under the state, with over 5,000 employees working in coal enterprises. In conjunction with the coal, coal-fired power, and coal chemical industries, the autonomous prefecture makes great efforts to cultivate technical and skilled personnel. By making full use of resources such as the Yili Prefecture Technician Training Institute, it has established training centers for these industries that are suitable for the needs of the local sector, thereby providing the professional skills necessary for its development ； A training base is established by leveraging the professional technical personnel, as well as the facilities and equipment resources of Xinwen Mining Group and enterprises in the coal, thermal power, and coal chemical industries, in order to vigorously promote school-enterprise cooperation in education and jointly cultivate technical and skilled talents ； By collaborating with various higher vocational colleges within and outside the region that specialize in coal, coal power, and coal chemical industries, it aims to train high-quality professionals who are urgently needed in the production and service sectors of these industries.
