What is the principle behind precision desulfurization by hydrolysis?
Hydrolytic desulfurization involves filling a desulfurization tower with organic sulfur hydrolysis catalysts; at a certain temperature, the organic sulfur is converted into inorganic sulfur, which is then subjected to further desulfurization using other methods
①. In the organic sulfur hydrolysis tank, under the action of a hydrolyzing agent, the hydrolysis reaction of COS takes place, with the majority of COS being converted into H2S. The reaction equation is: COS + H2O → H2S + CO2. ②. In the desulfurization tank, H2S and a small amount of O2 in the gas undergo the following reaction at room temperature, thanks to the catalytic effect of the activated carbon surface: H2S + 1/2 O2 → H2O + S
:For a handshake project involving 100,000 tons of synthetic ammonia, how should it be configured, and how many tons of desulfurization agent are required?
The dosage should be determined based on the sulfur content in the feed, the sulfur capacity of the desulfurizing agent, the space velocity, and the intended service life of your plant. It’s not uniform.
In the process gas, organic sulfur first undergoes a hydrolysis reaction, transforming into H2S; thereafter, H2S and other sulfur compounds are removed under the action of desulfurization agents. The reaction equations are as follows: COS + H2O = H2S + CO2; 2H2S + O2 = 2H2O + 2S. The principle of catalytic deoxygenation involves the reaction of oxygen in the process gas with hydrogen present in the feed gas, facilitated by a catalyst (a multi-component precious metal/AL2O3 mixture), thereby removing oxygen from the gas. O2 + 2H2 = 2H2O + Q – Principle of catalytic dechlorination. Chlorine in the gas exists in the form of hydrogen chloride, which is removed using chemical absorption; the reaction equation is as follows: MO + HCl → MCl + H2O. Here, M represents the active component of the dechlorinating agent
Inlet: 30 mg/m3, air volume: 50,000, outlet: 0.1 ppm; used for 3 years.
May I ask, where do O2 and H2O come from? If they are not present in the process gas, is it necessary to add them separately?

During operation, it is necessary to control: 1. The bed temperature; 2. Water ingress into the bed layer is strictly prohibited ; 3. The H2S content at the inlet should be low ; 4. The oxygen content must also be kept below 0.5%. Because the reaction H2S+1/2 O2→H2O+S occurs at low temperatures ; At high temperatures, sulfates are formed, which destroy the active centers of the desulfurizer and affect its lifespan.
