How to understand it before driving sequence

1. Before starting the machine, the initial position of the shut-off valve and whether the control valve is controllable are manually preset by ESD. How to understand the timing before driving? How should this sentence be understood?
In my understanding, the driving sequence refers to the automatic step-by-step control of the ignition process. For example, when igniting, one first releases the gas in the pipeline, then checks whether there are any leaks in the valves, after that activates the ignition device, and finally introduces the gas. Before this can happen, it’s necessary to determine the appropriate opening degree of certain valves (for example, those related to the combustion air – too much of it will scatter the flame, while too little will hinder combustion), and so on. These are all conditions that must be met prior to automatic ignition~~
