Our company plans to build a large-scale coal chemical project, and coal gasification technology is of great importance. The investment in coal gasification facilities typically accounts for 50–60% of the total investment. The ash melting point of our raw coal is only 1200 degrees, which makes it suitable for water-coal slurry gasification. There are already industrial-scale plants using this technology in operation both domestically and internationally. Please analyze from the perspectives of investment, operating costs, and ease of operation to determine which technology is the best. Thank you!

The mature process technologies for water-coal slurry mainly include GE (abroad) and East China University of Science and Technology (domestically). The total investment for these two approaches is roughly similar, but GE incurs much higher patent fees compared to East China University of Science and Technology. I recommend using domestic solutions that are fully capable of handling the task; large methanol production plants such as Yankuang Guohong and Shanghai Coking, which currently operate using this technology, experience stable performance.
Tsinghua’s two-stage pressurized gasification process – its most significant advantage over Texaco’s process is that the use of refractory bricks in this process is better than in Texaco’s method, and also better than that in the four-nozzle system. If the overall investment amounts are similar, foreign options should be preferred; those who have had similar experiences know that the quality of service differs greatly
