Our plant consumes 0.37 tons of sulfur per ton of 98% sulfuric acid – how can this issue be resolved?
I think this question is too vague; it’s important to determine at which stage the problem lies – for example, whether it’s due to too high moisture or impurities in the sulfur-fixing solution, low conversion rates, or low absorption rates – and then take targeted actions to address it

Haha, it’s impossible for steam to leak from the system; it can only escape through the chimneys at the outlets of the first and second absorption towers. Otherwise, the area where steam leaks would be in a complete mess. I don’t think such a basic mistake would happen. If the performance of the first absorption tower is good, it may not be possible to detect any leaks from the outlet of the first absorption tower to the fourth stage (from a superficial perspective), but there should still be an irritating smell. In the event of internal leakage, it is usually caused by holes forming in the partitions between various layers of the converter, or in the catalyst layer, as well as internal leakage in the heat exchanger. All of these issues can be identified through laboratory testing methods that analyze the gas composition at various points; firstly, this will be reflected in a poor conversion rate.
