Is the synthetic ammonia-glycol method suitable for methanol synthesis?
It is not possible to simply determine whether the hydroformylation method is good or not; for most hydroformylation units used in ammonia synthesis, one purpose is to enable the production of methanol by adjusting the ratio of alcohol to ammonia, while the other main function is to purify the gases. In terms of consumption, it may not be able to keep up with current monol alcohol plants. A current trend is that, due to environmental concerns, the copper washing process is gradually being replaced by alcohol hydroformylation and alcohol alkylation.
The regulation of polyol production is more flexible than that of monools; especially these days, many monool manufacturers are unable to continue operating, while polyol manufacturers can produce synthetic ammonia. In terms of coping with market crises, polyols have an advantage over monools.
Under the current circumstances, I also think that polyols are better than monools, as they offer complementary advantages
Unol can reduce the production costs of methanol and ammonia, but strict control is required over the synthesis parameters; various sources indicate that the production of unol can lead to the poisoning of the synthesis catalyst and its loss of activity.
