We use chromatography to analyze the presence of hydrogen and oxygen in chlorine gas. However, chlorine gas is corrosive; a needle can’t withstand more than about 10 insertions before it gets damaged and can no longer be used. A micro-syringe costs over 20 yuan, and 4-5 of them are needed per shift. Do anyone have any good solutions to this problem?

You need to remove chlorine first before sampling!
After each sample injection, the needle must be washed immediately; it cannot be left there waiting for the next injection. Anhydrous ethanol or acetone can be used for needle cleaning. It evaporates quickly, so it won’t have much impact on your subsequent analysis.
We’re now using a 10-port valve; it’s just slower – it takes 6 minutes to produce one peak
