One set of vacuum pumps in our facility is used for evacuating a vacuum tower, and it employs a water ring vacuum pump; another set uses a steam ejector. I’m not sure which type is more energy-efficient – what are the criteria for making such a choice? Water ring pumps consume electricity to pump fresh water; steam ejectors require steam, and coolers are also needed!
Personally, I think it should still be a water circulation pump.
On a macroscopic level, regardless of the method used to change a system from one state to another, the energy required is the same. . . However, in reality, the economic values of electrical energy and mechanical energy, as well as issues related to wastewater treatment and environmental protection, are expressed in RMB in our country. . . So they’re all different. . . I think for devices under 800,000, mechanical vacuum pumping can be used, while for those over 800,000, steam vacuum pumping is preferable. . . As for water ring pumps. If the unit is not concerned about environmental issues related to large amounts of wastewater, it can also be used. . . :lol
Of course, the water ring vacuum pump is more energy-efficient; steam-based vacuum pumping requires a large amount of steam and thus consumes a significant volume of water for circulation. At the very least, the cost of steam is relatively high, so the overall costs are significantly different. Moreover, in some plants, the position of the top condenser is high, which results in poor performance of the circulating water coolers; as a result, the vacuum level drops during summer.
