Plain carbon steel is fully capable of meeting the requirements for transporting acidic gases, as verified by the operating experience of similar installations both domestically and internationally. To prevent H2S leaks, key areas such as elbows must be regularly inspected for thickness and monitored for signs of corrosion. When maintaining equipment related to H2S, it is necessary to displace the H2S gas using nitrogen or similar substances before proceeding with the work. Fixed H2S detectors should be installed in some key areas, while employees should carry portable H2S detectors during inspections.
Materials such as 304 or 316L can be used; in particular, 316L offers excellent resistance to H2S corrosion, although it is more expensive.

For some acid gas or acid water pipelines that have been idle for a long time, it is essential to clean them thoroughly before shutting them down; otherwise, if liquid remains in them, corrosion and leakage can occur regardless of the material used (even 316L).
