Gentlemen: Why can sulfur trioxide in flue gas increase the dew point temperature of the flue gas?
Because sulfur trioxide reacts with water vapor in the flue gas to form H2So4. Specifically, I found a few papers; you can download them and take a look. Simply put, it is no longer the dew point of water in the flue gas, but rather the dew point of sulfuric acid; the dew point of sulfuric acid is higher than that of water
The combination of sulfur trioxide and water to form sulfuric acid itself causes an increase in the dew point. Coupled with the effect of sulfuric acid on dew point detection instruments, this results in a higher reading of the dew point
