The traditional method involves soaking the resin in an industrial salt solution and then discarding that solution, followed by backwashing and forward washing. However, this method does not allow for complete regeneration of the resin. Later, we adopted a method in which the resin is soaked in an industrial salt solution and then directly subjected to backwashing, followed by forward washing; repeating this process twice yields results that meet the required standards. There is a problem with your regeneration method; soaking in an industrial salt solution and using a static regeneration approach does not ensure thorough regeneration. A dynamic regeneration method should be employed. The correct regeneration process consists of five steps: backwashing, salt injection, displacement, and forward washing. Any water softening equipment based on sodium ion exchange has been developed on the basis of these five processes. Backwashing: After operating for a period of time, the equipment accumulates a lot of contaminants from the raw water at the top of the resin. By removing these contaminants, the ion exchange resin can be fully exposed, thereby ensuring effective regeneration. The backwashing process involves water flowing in from the bottom of the resin and out from the top, thereby flushing away the contaminants trapped at the top. This process generally takes about 5-15 minutes. Salt injection: This is the process of injecting saline into the resin tank. Traditional equipment uses a salt pump to deliver the saline, while fully automatic equipment employs a dedicated built-in injector to draw in the saline (the water flow must have a certain pressure). In practical operation, allowing brine to flow through the resin at a slow rate yields a better regeneration effect than simply immersing the resin in brine; therefore, water softening equipment uses this method of slow brine flow through the resin for regeneration. This process generally takes about 30 minutes, with the actual time depending on the amount of brine used. Replacement: After passing salt water through the resin layer, the process of slowly rinsing out all the salt from the resin using raw water at the same flow rate is called slow flushing. Since, during this process, calcium and magnesium ions on many functional groups are still exchanged for sodium ions, practical experience shows that this is the main stage of regeneration; therefore, many people refer to this process as replacement. This process generally takes the same amount of time as salt absorption, that is, about 30 minutes. Normal washing: To thoroughly wash away any remaining salt, the resin is rinsed with raw water at a flow rate similar to that used in actual operation; the water coming out at the end of this process should be soft water that meets the required standards. Under normal circumstances, the quick rinse process takes 5-15 minutes.
