In the control of automated processes, things like alarms, recording, and display seem to be relatively easy to understand. But what about control itself? And how should interlocks be understood? How to distinguish between control and interlocking?

Control involves the regulator using PID calculations to generate a specific signal in order to adjust the opening degree of the control valve, thereby counteracting the effects of disturbances on the process parameters and keeping them as close as possible to the set values; Interlock is an extreme measure taken to ensure that process parameters return to a safe range when they deviate from the normal range to dangerous levels; it is a protective mechanism designed to prevent quality issues in production or equipment failures.
Control is the fundamental means to ensure that process parameters operate within a reasonable range. Interlock is an operational measure taken to ensure the safe operation of the equipment when process parameters exceed acceptable limits and fail to return to those limits even after an alarm is triggered.
Thank you all; I now understand a bit better! In other words, chaining is a control method used to prevent further accidents from occurring!????
