I am a graduate student, and I have now secured a job at a chemical engineering design institute in my home province. I used to want to work in Beijing, but after thinking about it, I realized that there’s not much to offer in big cities anyway, and moreover, they don’t provide residency permits this year, so I decided to stay in my home province. However, I have developed feelings for someone recently, and he will definitely be working in Beijing in the future. If I work in Beijing as well, we might have a chance to develop our relationship. So I’m thinking of working there for a while before moving to Beijing to be with him and pursue our relationship (at this point, I realize once again that I value love more than my career). But my classmates tell me that it’s not easy to move from a small city to Beijing; there are basically no chances.
