Is it suitable to build a coal chemical industry?

It can be built indoors with better insulation; there are many coal chemical industries in Inner Mongolia and Xinjiang at present.

I’m currently working at a coal chemical company in Inner Mongolia. I feel that the cold weather leads to unnecessary waste of resources – human, material, and financial resources. I think it would be better to locate such facilities in the south. What are everyone’s opinions? Thank you!

I agree. The ideal approach would be to use the reefs in the South China Sea (such as those in the Nansha Islands). Ships could transport coal from Inner Mongolia there, and chemical products derived from coal could be transported back. The coal ash and slag could be used to fill in the land there. Thanks to the presence of underwater reefs, it is estimated that these expanded islands could be passed on to future generations after several decades, while also helping to avoid territorial disputes. The waters of the South China Sea are abundant, and the advancement of desalination technology can help boost domestic demand; this makes it suitable for developing coal-based chemical industries, which are heavy water consumers. The South China Sea also has ample solar energy, which can be utilized to meet the needs of these chemical industries. With its high temperatures, there is less heat loss, so it is estimated that the energy consumption per ton of chemical products can be significantly reduced. As for Inner Mongolia, the areas that collapse after coal mining form many lakes, which helps improve the ecological environment and facilitate the creation of livable cities. Haha, just joking

Although it is cold there, there are coal resources available. Coal serves as a raw material for coal chemical industries; by building factories there, the cost of raw materials is low, transportation costs are low as well, and thus the cost of products is low. This results in high profits for enterprises and good economic returns. There are many coal chemical enterprises under construction in Inner Mongolia, but the climate conditions there are not favorable.

Factors such as the convenience of access to resources and the insulation performance should be considered, along with a comprehensive comparison of economic costs.

Cold weather is not a problem for the chemical industry; it has long been solved through technical means. If it is considered a waste of unnecessary resources (human, material, and financial) just because of cold weather, then regions in the world that are even colder than Inner Mongolia, such as the United States, Russia, Canada, and the Nordic countries, should not develop their chemical industries. Wouldn’t it be better to locate those industries in Africa or South America? That way, resources could be saved, and the hardworking people of Africa could be freed from such labor

I am a front-line worker. During the testing process, I noticed that due to the cold weather, many of the pipelines connected to the pressure gauges froze. The pressure gauges themselves also froze (referring to the instruments on site). If heating isn’t applied to these pipelines, it won’t take long before the pressure readings remain constant at a fixed value; this situation persists even after the machine is stopped. The same thing happens to the pipelines connected to differential pressure gauges – many instruments and pipelines are affected by this. And this is just a small part of the issues; there are many other factors as well! It is highly recommended to build chemical plants in the south in the future

At least in most factories in China, this issue has not yet been resolved; China’s coal chemical industry is still in the process of development, and more efforts are needed! This issue really hasn’t been properly resolved yet! It wasn’t thought through well!

The idea is great! But there are too many things to consider in reality! Hehe. Building a factory in a nearby location is likely the best option after comprehensive consideration.
