What are the precautions to take before introducing oxygen into the Texaco oxygen pipeline?
◆Oxygen pressure equalization reduces the pressure difference between valves, ensuring safe operation. ◆Initialization is a necessary step to be carried out before allowing material to pass through; otherwise, the subsequent steps cannot be performed. ◆Set the oxygen flow rate for driving at 15,000 Nm3/h; simultaneously, adjust HV141 (to around 45%) to establish the feedback pressure: PT143 = 2.5–3.0 MPa.
1. Check that the valve is in the closed position and that the automatic control valve is functioning properly; the instrument air pressure should be 0.5 Mpa. 2. Ensure that the pipeline has been properly purged with N2, so that the combustible material levels remain within acceptable limits. 3. Ensure that there is no oil residue or other safety hazards at the pipeline valves and flanges.
It is best to punch the oxygen pipeline, and then open the main oxygen valve after pressure balance is achieved.
Evacuate personnel and adjust the control valve to a low opening degree.
Check that the pipes are airtight, that degreasing has been properly carried out, that pressure is balanced, and that the oxygen flow rate is under control
