Has anyone here encountered a situation where the economizer leaks water?:)
Generally, leaks in the economizer occur only during the installation and commissioning phase; they are rare during normal operation. However, tube breaks in the economizer have been encountered.
Reasons for frequent pipe bursts and wear.
The main reasons for water leakage in the economizer are, first, poor water quality – softened water is not used or the softening standards are not met; Second, there are issues with the quality of the economizer itself. The convection section of the wet steam generator at my workplace (which functions as a economizer) developed a leak within less than three months of being put into operation, prompting an immediate request to the manufacturer to replace the convection section.
Most leaks in cast-iron economizers are caused by the substandard quality and poor elasticity of the sealing gaskets; Steel tube economizers often experience tube bursts and leakage due to wear.
In our 75T/h CFB boiler, the high-temperature economizer has not leaked yet, but the tubes in the low-temperature economizer have burst several times. The main reasons for tube rupture are: 1. Acid corrosion damage in low-temperature areas ; 2. No anti-wear plates are installed on the windward side of the tubes, resulting in wear of the tubes by fly ash ; 3. Pipe material issues, manufacturing issues, and welding issues ; 4. Local overheating of the pipe, or carbon deposition.
Leakage in the economizer is a problem that those working with boilers definitely encounter. According to the power industry classification, it falls under \"four types of pipe leakage\" (water wall, economizer, superheater, reheater). There are five reasons for leaks in the economizer: 1. Issues with the manufacturer (such as the material used); 2. Damage caused during installation; 3. Wear and tear; 4. Corrosion due to low temperatures; 5. Poor water quality leading to scaling, which reduces heat transfer and causes the pipes to overheat
I’d like to add one more thing: it’s possible that the boiler wasn’t cleaned thoroughly during the blowing process
