Loading Inert Support Balls: Before the absorbent material is added, inert support balls must be placed in the bottom of the vessel. A layer of 25mm ceramic balls is placed around and above the outlet collector, up to 200 mm below the bottom tan line. On top of this layer, there is another layer 100 mm thick, composed of 13mm ceramic balls. Finally, a layer 100 mm thick, made up of 6mm ceramic balls, is placed on top of the 13mm balls. Each layer should be level before the next layer is added. The position of the bottom tan line may not be easy to identify inside the vessel; it is necessary to refer to the vessel’s drawings to determine the distance from the weld line to the tan line if needed.
