Does anyone know how to change the hardness of wire? It softens high-hardness wire and reduces its rigidity. Suitable for cold drawing. Thank you! ! !
For annealing, a simple method is to build a basic furnace to heat the wire red, and then allow it to cool naturally.

Since it’s wire. It goes through annealing again, and other components are added as well. Is it necessary? Why not use aluminum wire! Or copper wire.!
Hehe, it’s meant for cold drawing – drawing wire; what else is it for, hehe? If annealing is to be done, why not go for rapid cooling instead? Hehe, that would destroy the crystal orientation even more, reducing hardness further, while during the drawing process the crystals can reorient under external force. That’s how blacksmiths do it: they heat the metal until it’s red hot, then plunge it into water to cool it rapidly, followed by hammering to shape it. Oh, and another thing – if it’s an alloy of iron with high hardness, heating it too much might damage its structure; in such cases, should the processing temperature be increased slightly? Thank you all for your participation. I wonder if there are any simple chemical methods, and I’d like to hear more details about them. I used scrap wire to join them together and then thinned out the thicker pieces of iron. However, the joints are quite hard and tend to break during the drawing process; I’m looking for ways to reduce their hardness so that they don’t break easily during drawing.
The higher the purity of iron, the softer it is! Increasing purity is a good method!

Scrap wire has no real value; sell it as waste!
