The desulfurization system in power plants requires corrosion and wear protection, as the high-speed slurry containing particles can quickly wear through the elbows and the straight pipes at both ends. Since the liquid in the pipes contains a high amount of sulfite ions, which gives it strong corrosive properties, non-metallic pipes such as rubber-lined pipes, rubber pipes, and PVC pipes are generally used to avoid corrosion. However, these pipes have very poor wear resistance, which leads to the frequent abrasion and penetration of the straight sections and elbows at both ends of the valves. Under normal circumstances, the lifespan of the elbows in the desulfurization system is around 6 months, while that of the straight sections is about one year. However, due to the high cost of manufacturing ceramic products in their entirety, desulfurization companies switched to products made of rubber-lined materials or fiberglass.
