The import and export of DCS involves saving or writing the operating parameters of the DCS back into it. These parameters include PID settings, alarm thresholds, etc. They are usually not set during the configuration process but rather during operation. These parameters are very important; when the DCS has its configuration re-downloaded, especially in a global manner, these parameters may be lost. In such cases, import can be used to restore them
In ABB’s DCS, exporting saves the user configuration program in *.CSV format, while importing loads the backup file into VIS.
