For phase equilibrium in distillation, isn’t it enough to just look at the chapter on physical chemistry? |?
Personally, I would suggest taking a look at \"Principles of Chemical Engineering\" as well
It’s okay, but the content is incomplete; it’s better to read the chapter on distillation in Principles of Chemical Engineering.
I think one should study chemical thermodynamics, as distillation processes involve multiple components and non-ideal conditions.
It’s better to study thermodynamics or separation engineering; the understanding of problems through organic chemistry alone is not deep enough. Both physical chemistry and organic chemistry deal with ideal systems, which serve only as a foundation in research and practical work. Of course, if one’s foundation is weak, it’s better to start with organic chemistry before delving deeper!
Equilibrium in physical chemistry is a fundamental theory; once that is understood, it becomes easier to see its applications in the principles of chemical engineering. I think many of the theories in Physical Chemistry are quite complex; if something is useful in Principles of Chemical Engineering, I can go back and review it then
