What products can generally be produced by the constant fourth line in a vacuum distillation unit, and what is its purpose?
I’ve never worked in atmospheric and vacuum distillation units, but could solvent oil be something heavier than steam coal and diesel? Hehe
Used as raw material for catalytic cracking or coking units.
It could also be heavy diesel, or it might be the product from the first or second stage of the vacuum distillation tower; whereas in normal cases, the product from the vacuum distillation tower would likely be a feedstock for catalytic cracking
Solvent oil is often produced in the primary line. Solvent oil is heavier than gasoline and lighter than diesel.
The constant-four-line stream is generally the superheated oil from the atmospheric pressure tower, and can be used as a feedstock for catalytic cracking. In facilities that produce lubricating oil, it can be considered for reinjection at an appropriate location in the vacuum tower, such as at the oil washing stage, thereby increasing the production of lubricating oil!
It is possible to consider using the normal quaternary line directly as a lubricant. The flash point is between 180–185°C, or it can be used as a catalyst feedstock.
If the crude oil properties are good, Changsi line can be used as a raw material for liquid paraffin, as well as for low-grade waxes and as fuel for low-speed diesel engines.
Grade 3 diesel is heavy diesel, while grade 4 diesel is atmospheric wax oil that can be used as a catalyst feedstock or a raw material for wax production; it can also be hydrogenated together with diesel to produce more diesel

Generally speaking, constant-four-line oil can be used in coking, catalytic cracking, and residue hydrogenation units; it can also serve as a washing oil in vacuum distillation towers. However, it is difficult to handle, as it tends to form coke and cause leaks quite easily. In our fuel-type atmospheric and vacuum distillation process, only the third fraction from the atmospheric distillation column corresponds to the light wax components. The oil from the fourth fraction should be the superheated oil from the atmospheric distillation column, and it can be used as a feedstock for catalytic cracking.
Regular No. 4 diesel is generally the heavy diesel from atmospheric distillation towers, and can be used as a feedstock for catalytic cracking.
Our unit is of the fuel oil type, and currently three side streams are in operation. We need to expand our capacity soon, and the design institute says we need to add a side line!
Chang Si line is similar to Chang Zha; it can be used as a lubricant material or as a feedstock for heavy oil catalytic cracking and coking units, and generally hydrogenation is also applied.
