Research vs. Production Department

I would like to ask whether it’s better for undergraduates to engage in research or to start working at the grassroots level in a company’s production department That person said that undergraduates like me can only serve as lab assistants there. It doesn’t have much future. Is it really true? (There are over 100 people working on research in their science and technology building; even the least experienced among them are undergraduates from prestigious universities. Would I really have no future if I, as an undergraduate from a second-tier university, joined them?) ）
In research, you’re mainly just killing time; in a company, there’s a chance you might make it big, but if that doesn’t happen, you’ll be working shifts for the rest of your life.
It depends on whether you have real skills. I think working in research is better; it helps to strengthen fundamental knowledge, develop practical skills, and you end up around high-caliber professionals in the industry, which can more or less contribute to your future development. On the other hand, once you master the research techniques and knowledge, it will be much easier to change jobs. Additionally, if you want to pursue further studies in the future, supervisors will give preference to those with a background in research
