1) The pipe material specified in the specification sheet is A106B, while the fitting materials are A105 or A234 WPB. Is it acceptable to use A106B for both pipes and fittings in CAESAR? (There are reports indicating that A106B should be used for both.) The allowable stress of A105 is higher than that of A106B, with other parameters being similar. Would using A106B be a more conservative approach? This is because if different materials are used for fittings such as elbows and the pipes themselves, the modeling workload would increase significantly. 2) If pipes and elbows are made of different materials, how should the elbows be modeled? How can different materials be defined? 3) What are the differences in physical properties between A106B, A105, and A234 WPB? Can A106B be used as a substitute for A105 or A234 WPB? 1) Under normal circumstances, pipeline materials are used uniformly. 2) If the materials are different, simply select a new material for the material unit (note that both units connected end to end must have their materials reselected). 3) After consulting the ASME standards, the following conclusions are drawn: a) These three standard numbers cover different applications: A106B for seamless nominal pipes, A105 for forgings, and A234WPB for welded nominal pipe fittings. b. Among them, the allowable stresses for A106B and A234WPB are the same, while that for A105 is slightly higher.
Generally speaking, it is acceptable to use a relatively conservative pipe material for elbows
