Typically, producing one ton of methanol requires 2.5 tons of gasified coal + 0.5 tons of thermal coal. To produce one ton of olefins, 10.5 tons of raw materials along with fuel coal are required (lignite; since I am unaware of the carbon content of standard coal, a conversion cannot be made). 2. Theoretically, 2.3 tons of methanol are needed to produce one ton of propylene ; 3. The amount of propylene required to produce one ton of polypropylene varies depending on the manufacturing process; the current standard for evaluation is 1.015.
